Jieyang Chaoshan Airport
Jieyang Chaoshan International Airport was put into operation on December 15, 2011. The airport is located in Denggang Town which is under jurisdiction of the Airport Economic Zone of Jieyang City, Guangdong Province, and is about 20 kilometers respectively from Shantou, Jieyang and Chaozhou. Providing service to about 30 million people not only in the Eastern Guangdong area whose total area is over 30 000 square kilometers, but also in the southwest region of Fujian Province and parts of the southeastern part of Jiangxi Province, the airport is an important trunkline airport in the southeast coast of China and is one of the three international airports in Guangdong Province.
Jieyang Chaoshan International Airport has a terminal area of 55 000 square meters, an apron area of 160 000 square meters, and a runway that is 2 800 meters long and 45 meters wide. The runway is designed as a 4E runway, but will be built in the current phase as a 4D one.
Jieyang Chaoshan International Airport currently operates 50 scheduled routes, connecting 40 cities, including some international and regional points in Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Phuket, Hong Kong and Taipei.
In 2016, Jieyang Chaoshan International Airport registered 32 200 movements, and handled 3.82 million passengers and 25 200 tons of cargo and mail, up by 15.9%, 19.2% and 27.6% respectively over the previous year. Thanks to the huge aviation market potential and rapid air transport growth in the Chaoshan region, Jieyang Chaoshan International Airport is expected to handle 6 million passengers in 2020.
