Meixian Airport
Meixian Airport, located in Meizhou, nicknamed "World Hakka ", was officially put into operation on September 1, 1987.
Meixian Airport has a 4C runway which is 2 400 meters long and 45 meters wide, and has an apron accommodating five parking stands. The combined area of domestic terminal and air traffic control building is 4 300 square meters, the international terminal 2 552 square meters, and business (VIP) terminal 1 375 square meters. The airport is equipped with one-way CAT-I instrument landing system, approach lighting system, VOR, DME and SSR, and is capable of launching medium and long-haul air routes.
At present, Meixian Airport operates a total of 10 routes connecting 15 cities, and has signed partnership agreements with China Southern Airlines, Tianjin Airlines, Capital Airlines, Mandarin Airlines, GX Airlines and Sriwijaya Air of Indonesia, which provide 45 flights per week. The airport handled 336 000 passengers in 2016, a record high. In 2015, the airport introduced general aviation airlines, such as Longhao Airlines and Jinquan Airlines, as part of its unremitting efforts to develop general aviation business. Meixian Airport aims to handle 7 300 movements, 800 000 passengers, and 450 tons of cargo and mail by 2020.
Meizhou Municipal Government and GAA have launched the Meixian Airport relocation project. The new airport will be built as a 4C airport by 2025 (short term), capable of handling 900 000 passengers, and will be capable of handling 2.65 million passengers by 2045 (long term).
